Inspired by a recent trip to Barcelona with its variety of architecture, from the organic lines in Gaudi’s work to the more structured buildings of Museu Blau. Taking a closer look at Gaudi’s designs, mosaic tiles are pieced together in a random but selective order to create new patterns within the design of his architecture. The shapes of Barcelona’s architecture will be combined with the variety of organic textures found within Barcelona from the Pavilion Building to Palm trees lining the beach.
A bright bold colour palette, from Hot Pink and Strawberry Red to Fresh Apple Green and Sky Blue has been chosen from looking at trends, particularly focusing on the type of colours in the Spring/Summer 2018 trend Acid Stripes.
The focus within this project was to produce a collection of 6 co-ordinating prints to be applied to fashion garments for high end purposes that would be seen on Catwalks or publications such as Vogue. Once the final 6 high end designs are finished then these were taken and used as a bases to produce a commercial collection of 6 prints for high street shops such as, New Look and Dorothy Perkins.
Image above is my degree show final collection of 6 fashion placement prints designed as a high end ready-to-wear collection, with two supporting visuals.
These designs above are a commercial collection that would be found in a high street shop, aimed at girls from their early twenties to their late thirties. These designs were based from the High End/Catwalk collection above that I exhibited at my degree show.
